On Sunday, September 10, 2023, the referee for the Paleolithic and Mesolithic in Baden-Württemberg and the speaker of the Old Stone Age World Heritage Site "Caves and Ice Age Art of the Swabian Alb" of the State Office for Monument Preservation offer on the occasion of the Open Monument Day a (not barrier-free) archaeological hike through the Achtal for all archaeologically interested. All ages are welcome. Destinations are the Sirgenstein Cave in Blaubeuren-Weiler and the Brillenhöhle in Blaubeuren-Seißen. Here you will learn interesting facts about the history of research and the archaeological legacies left behind by Neanderthals and modern humans at the sites in the Eight Valley. There are also exciting insights into the ongoing excavation of the State Office for the Preservation of Historical Monuments in the Brillenhöhle.

Please note: As some of the walks are longer, sturdy shoes and rainwear (if necessary) as well as good fitness are a prerequisite. Thank you very much.

The guided tour is free of charge.
